His game tally would have been even higher had the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons not been abandoned early due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and in both campaigns his side were knocking on the door of the Southern League Division One Central playoffs, a testament to the good work done during his tenure.

Ben was appointed on a permanent basis in January 2018 after a spell as caretaker manager, as the club appointed from within once again having worked under previous manager Glyn Creaser. His first season in charge saw the club make a turnaround for threat of relegation to a comfortable mid-table finish.

He continued to achieve strong showings in the league, whilst also becoming renowned for developing local young talent, several of whom flourished having moved on to higher level clubs.

All good things have to come to an end though, and, despite a bright start to the season, a disappointing run of results culminated in his resignation after a heavy defeat at FC Romania in October 2022.

His playing days also saw him represent Risborough Rangers, Tring Athletic and Haywood United, amongst others, whilst his big claim to fame was winning the FA National Sunday cup whilst playing for Gossoms End in Berkhamsted with the final played at Anfield.
