Within nine months he was appointed Caretaker Manager following Curtis' resignation, before being given the job on a full-time basis.
Improved results soon followed, and he lead a drive up the League table including a number of high profile wins against high placed sides and a good run in the FA Trophy, including victory at Forest Green Rovers.
The following season he was forced to work with a reduced budget, and despite progressing to the 4th Qualifying Round in the FA Cup, League results inevitibly faltered, and after a further vast budget cut in December 2005 Nicholls called time on his Aylesbury career.
Danny was formerly a coach at Northampton Town, where he met Paul Curtis, and had a successful playing career in non-league football with clubs such as Boreham Wood and Bedford Town.
