A former pro with Charlton Athletic, his raiding runs down the left flank, in tandem with Kieran Gallagher down the right, caused mayhem for many defences during that season. Unsurprisingly, it wasn't long before his performances caught the attentions of league scouts.

After protracted negotiations he made the move back into the football league, with QPR paying a reported £25,000 fee and the loan of goalkeeper Richard Hurst to Aylesbury.

Since then Darlo became a £150,000 signing for Wimbledon, before moving to Watford and then Cardiff City at the start of the 2004/05 season. His versatility has proved key to his success, being a first team regular at every club since leaving Aylesbury.
