Bognor were by far the strongest side throughout the early exchanges and it was of little surprise when they took the lead on 13 minutes. Slack marking from the Aylesbury defence enabled Matt Russell to deflect Charlie Balfe's shot past Adam Wheeler.
The home side nearly made it two when Michael Birmingham volleyed over from a Richard Hudson cross. Birmingham was to later have a looping header sail over the bar before Aylesbury pulled level shortly before half time when Chris Bangura blocked Bognor keeper Craig Stoner's clearance and managed to score despite the attempts of various Bognor defenders to bring him down.
Aylesbury took the game to their hosts in the early part of the second half. Despite creating no clear-cut chances there only looked like being one winner throughout this particular passage of play.
The best chances for Aylesbury to clinch the points fell to Chris Bangura, who unfortunately slipped over after being released by a Steve Clark flick-on and Dwain Clarke who saw his 35-yard free-kick well saved by Stoner.
Birmingham had a goal disallowed as both sides had to settle for a point - although Cliff Hercules would have been much happier with this than his opposing number Jack Pearce.
