The Ladies section recorded their first win of the season on Sunday with a surprise victory at Reading Ladies in the first round of the Berks and Bucks Cup.
The Berkshire side are two leagues above United in the Southern Premier Division but the Aylesbury team played with a real determination right from the kick off.
The Ducks had the better of the early exchanges as Lynn Pacey shot just wide and Sally Short had an effort saved in the opening minutes. Reading continued to find themselves under pressure as Hannah Franklin had a couple of half chances and Leigh Reed tried her luck from distance.
Resolute defending from captain Sarah Gerrard, in a new blossoming partnership with Lucy Ilic, kept Reading at bay but the home side inevitably came back into things and hit the bar from a corner.
Instead of trying to break United down Reading kept trying their luck from distance but young keeper Harriet Parkin was equal to everything launched her way.
It was Aylesbury who drew first blood six minutes before half time.
Lynn Pacey found Kerry Naisbitt in space on the right wing and the bustling forward's cross was sublimely turned in by Hannah Franklin.
In first half stoppage time it was two as Franklin tried her luck from distance and stood open mouthed as her exquisitely hit chip sailed over the keeper and into the net.
At the start of the second period United showed their inexperience as their lead was quickly wiped out and six minutes into the half they found themselves 3-2 down.
This seemed to jar the Ducks back into action though as the home keeper was forced to make three consecutive saves from Franklin, Naisbitt and Pacey.
Reading looked to add to their advantage and only good work from Julie Tebbutt and Beth Harris kept the Berkshire side at bay. When they did break free of the defence Parkin was once again up to the challenge keeping the scoreline within her side's reach.
As the half drew on United upped the pressure as Kerry Naisbitt headed just wide and Sally Short's shot was pushed past the post for a corner.
Then with just five minutes remaining the equaliser finally came. Good work from Franklin down the right was rewarded when, under extreme pressure from Kerry Naisbitt, a Reading defender turned the ball into her own net.
Extra time was nervy as expected although United did manage to create several good chances and were very unlucky when Naisbitt's lob dropped agonisingly the wrong side of the post with the keeper beaten.
The final drama came two minutes from time with the dreaded penalty shoot out looming.
Heroine Hannah Franklin capped off an excellent player of the match display when she slid the ball home from the edge of the area to complete an unlikely victory for the fast improving Ducks.
Some very good individual performances but overall it was the supreme teamwork which saw the side come through.
