With United's squad still decimated by injury and their form shaky, few could have predicted the outcome before the game.
Aylesbury were dealt a further blow when Carl Kavanagh, still feeling his way back from injury, was forced out of the action and replaced by Roni Joe.
A couple of early chances had come and gone, notably Richard Teesdale having an acrobatic volley pushed away by Vincent and Marsh shooting well over from the edge of the area, before Aylesbury went ahead.
Butler played the ball inside to Ben Stevens and his superb through ball found Mead advancing inside the area, and he calmly slotted the ball past Ryan Price. 1-0 Aylesbury
It was just the catalyst Aylesbury needed having started the game right in Chasetown's faces with their ?up and at em' style from the outset.
The Ducks hit the post just a minute later when Marsh's early shot had Price beaten. Unfortunately no green and white players had followed in for an easy rebound goal.
United's cause was helped when Harry Harris was dismissed on seventeen minutes for violent conduct. Having taken a dislike to Ben Stevens' clean aerial challenge, the two players walked twenty yards back together before Harris squared up to him, leading with his head. Although not so much a headbutt, the referee was left little choice by the Chasetown player's stupidity.
Even with ten men, the Scholars were, as expected, showing their quality and continued to pose a threat. The lively Danny Smith played a ball across the box which came to Mark Branch, his effort driven straight at Vincent. His brother John crashed a shot wide a minute later from the opposite side.
After Mark Boyce, now playing at full back, shot wide after being played in by Butler, John Branch had another effort at the other end which proved a routine catch for Vincent.
As the chances continued to fall for both sides, it looked like it was going to be a long second half for United unless they could force a second goal, Gary Birch the latest Chasetown player to have an effort, cracking a fierce shot over the bar from the edge of the box. His strike partner Smith then had a near post shot fly into the side netting after referee Mr Young played an intelligent advantage.
Chasetown's best chance fell to Smith on forty minutes when he found himself in behind the defence, but he took too long in getting his shot away allowing recovery challenges to come in and eventually the ball was swept away.
Saulsbury performed heroics to keep the visitors out again moments later, when he got to the ball ahead of Wayne Dyer from Mark Branch's beautiful free-kick delivery.
In first half stoppage time the killer blow Aylesbury needed duly arrived. Another left sided move ended with the ball played in to Marsh, who took it down brilliantly and had the presence of mind to feed Hawkins, who had time and space to roll the ball home. 2-0 Aylesbury
Half-time: Aylesbury 2-0 Chasetown
Coming back certainly looked a tough ask for the Scholars, and straight from the kickoff it was nearly made even harder when Marsh drove forward, passed to Mealor whose cross was met by Hawkins and saved well by Price.
A couple of half chances followed as Stevens crashed a shot over the bar and Mealor turned in the area but saw his shot easily dealt with by Price.
Vincent had to make his first true save of the game on the hour mark when Birch's low shot from range had to be dealt with low down, and he managed to gather the ball at the second attempt.
From a left wing cross Hawkins headed straight at Price, then a header from Teesdale flashed wide from Holland's dangerous free kick as the sides matched each other tit-for-tat.
On another day Hawkins could have had a hat-trick, this time firing over with a left-footed screamer after Mealor delivered another telling ball into the area.
As the game entered the final fifteen minutes, Chasetown threw everything forward, but the best they had to show for their efforts was a long range shot from Danny Smith which was comfortably fielded by Vincent.
Bizarrely, the visitors seemed to switch off following that effort, the defence standing well off Aylesbury as they walked the ball through them. Eventually Marsh and Hawkins linked up inside the area, before the former crashed home a third for the Ducks. 3-0 Aylesbury
Substitute Nathan Graham had the game's last meaningful effort, shooting low all the way across goal with Price beaten, but it was a memorable afternoon's work for Aylesbury.
