Two changes to the starting line up after the victory at Kidlington in midweek saw Haziz Kone and Jake Bewley restored to the team in place of Ben Peters and Kacper Kloc. The hosts started the game well, with player manager Jordan Parkes dictating play in the centre of the park. He came close to opening the scoring in the 9th minute, after a foul by Kian Henry on Henry Burt saw the award of a free kick 25 yards up. Up stepped Parkes, but his effort was just wide of the near post.
A corner from Parkes in the 17th minute was met by recent signing Benji Kakembo at the far post, who sidefooted wide of the goal. Three minutes later a loose ball in midfield was collected by left back Judd Farrant, but his slightly speculative attempt from 30 yards was well wide of the target.
Having weathered some quite concerted pressure in the early stages of the game, the Ducks took the lead in the 37th minute. A throw in from Liam Batchelor-Morgan was hooked forward by Sonny French towards Tom Cove on the edge of the penalty area; he was beaten in the challenge by debutant Kieran Gauthier, but the ball fell kindly for French, who volleyed home from 20 yards to score his 69th goal for the Ducks in his 300th appearance, and his 5th in the past 6 matches. 1-0 Aylesbury
On the stroke of half time, French had a golden opportunity to add to his tally; Kone won the ball in midfield, before passing to Luqman Kassim wide on the left. He got to the bye line and pulled the ball back to French 10 yards out, but his shot was skied over the bar when it looked easier to score. With two minutes added time played, a patient passing move between Batchelor-Morgan, Cove and French set Bewley up for a shot 20 yards out, but his effort was high and wide.
Half-time: Kings Langley 0-1 Aylesbury
Into the second half, Henry blocked an effort on the edge of the penalty area with the ball falling to Kassim. He broke away, chased by James Towell, but outsprinted the defender before shooting narrowly wide from 20 yards.
Jack Hopwood came to the Ducks rescue in the 53rd minute, when a Parkes corner was headed down by Henry, but only as far as Gauthier, who saw his shot cleared off the line by the feet of the Ducks' keeper.
Just before the hour Charley Tuttle played a pass down the touchline for Kassim; again he got the better of Towell, twisting and turning the full back before seeing his shot deflected to French, who saw his own shot also deflected into the arms of Adisorn Connolly in the home goal.
Two minutes later a cross by Towell was met by Burt, who outjumped Bewley, but his header was straight at Hopwood.
The scores were level in the 64th minute; a cross from the right was headed out by Jack Wood to Bently Assiedou on the edge of the penalty area, who saw his shot take a slight deflection, wrong-footing an unsighted Hopwood. 1-1
Buoyed by the equaliser, the hosts came close again two minutes later, Kakembo picking the ball up 35 yards out before firing a powerful shot just wide of the goal.
The Ducks did respond well to the equaliser, with Kassim having a purple spell during this period; Henry carried the ball out of defence before feeding Kassim wide on the left. He broke into the penalty area before firing a low cross towards the near post which was steered past his own keeper by the unfortunate Ben Casey. 2-1 Aylesbury
Five minutes later, a Bewley corner was cleared back out to him, his second cross to the near post saw a Henry header blocked on the goal line. The game was full of goal mouth action at this stage, next up the hoists had a great opportunity, when Kakembo held the ball up in midfield before feeding Towell who crossed low towards Burt, but saw his effort saved by Hopwood.
In the 79th minute, substitute Deago Dunbar saw his crossed into the penalty area cleared as far as Towell, who shot wide of the right-hand post. From their next attack, Kakembo collected the ball from Connolly held off the challenge of Henry before passing wide to Assiedou who shot high over the bar.
With 4 minutes of added on time played, Assiedou almost found an equaliser. He cut inside Tuttle before seeing his shot from 25 yards flick of French's leg, forcing Hopwood into an outstanding save to preserve the lead. The final chance fell the way of Kassim; a corner was cleared to the winger, who made ground with Towell backing away; as he reached the penalty area he hit a shot which cannoned off the foot of the near post with Connolly stranded.
Finally, after 8 minutes of added time, the referee blew the final whistle to signal the 3rd successive away win for the Ducks, with French scoring in each of them. Up next is a home game against Northwood on Wed 19th Feb, followed by another home match on Saturday against former landlords Leighton Town.
