Looking to build on an encouraging draw in the last game against Northwood, there were changes to the starting line up, with Liam Batchelior-Morgan and Jake Bewley returning to the defence in place of Prince Madu and Charley Tuttle, while Remel Larwood and London Brookshaw started in place of Rocko Tamplin and Jed Layman.
The opening exchanges saw the midfields dominate the game, with little in the way of threat on either goal, despite the home side having a succession of corners, that were dealt with comfortably by the Ducks defence. The first real chance fell to the hosts, when Nathan Brathwaite played a ball inside Liam Batchelor-Morgan to Umaru Kabia, who fired in a low cross which was well dealt with by Luke Martin at the near post, before it could reach the strikers lurking behind him.
Two minutes later, Pow Raposo did well to win the ball from home skipper Matthew Hurley on halfway, before spreading the ball wide to Fabian Garcia on the right, who cut inside Luke Clark but saw his shot from 15 yards blocked by the full back.
Garcia had another half chance 10 minutes later, when a throw in from Batchelor-Morgan was flicked into his path by Larwood, but his overhead attempt was wide of the keeper's left-hand post.
The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute, when dogged persistence and strength saw Raposo win the ball in the centre circle, before advancing and shrugging off the challenge of 3 defenders, before shooting goalwards from the edge of the penalty area. His first effort was saved by George Edgworth, but he kept his composure to seize on the rebound and fire home from 10 yards. 1-0 Aylesbury
Half-time: Enfield 0-1 Aylesbury
The second half started well for the Ducks, Raposo threading a ball through the centre to Garcia on the right side of the penalty area, but he saw his shot from the edge of the area saved.
Enfield threatened in the 48th minute, when new signing James Bone set up Kabia 25 yards out, who hit a powerful shot which cannoned to safety off the crossbar.
Three minutes later, Tamplin did well to accelerate across the pitch on a diagonal run from left to right, before shooting from 20 yards, but his effort went wide of the far post.
Soon after Alex Penn made good ground down the right before passing inside to Bone, who saw his shot from the edge of the area blocked by Martin.
In the 64th minute, good close control by Garcia forced Clark into a rash challenge on the very edge of the penalty area; with the Ducks players and supporters crying for a penalty, referee Matthew Rowling adjudged the offence to be just outside the area and awarded a free kick. It mattered not though, as Jake Bewley stepped up to arrow a fine effort around the defensive wall and beyond Edgworth into the far corner of the net. 2-0 Aylesbury
From the next attack, a corner taken by Joni Vukaj was cleared back to him; he took a touch to widen the angle and fired a shot from wide, which was cleared at the far post.
In the 72nd minute Bewley found Tamplin on the left; he passed infield to substitute Benji Kakembo, who saw his shot from the edge of the penalty area blocked. The rebound fell to Larwood, but again his effort was blocked by an Enfield defender.
With 5 minutes left on the clock, Garcia collected the ball on halfway on the right side. He made a good run into the penalty area, but saw his shot from 15 yards sail wide of the target.
While there were only minutes left on the clock, there was still the thought that a late goal from the home side could cause panic in the Ducks' ranks, but any fears were dispelled when Larwood sealed the points with a fine 3rd goal. Batchelor-Morgan collected the ball 35yards from goal and advanced before finding Larwood on the edge of the penalty area. He found space and fired a fine left foot shot from 15 yards beyond Edgworth. 3-0 Aylesbury
There was still time for the hoists to threaten again, as a corner by Penn was headed out to Vukaj, who saw his shot from 20 yards deflected over the crossbar. The final chance fell to the Ducks, as skipper Jack Wood cleared a corner and found Tamplin, who moved the ball wide to Garcia; the winger cut into the penalty area and laid the ball on a plate to Sonny French, but his effort from 15 yards was too close to Edgworth to cause the keeper any problems.
So, a good morale boosting win, and 3 points which lifted the Ducks to 12th place in the League, ahead of a local derby at home against former landlords Leighton Town on Wednesday evening.
