United concluded their pre-season fixtures with a victory over local rivals Chinnor.
Despite creating a good chance in the opening minute, which Hannah Franklin hit just over the cross bar, the Ducks started the game slowly and keeper Vicki Taylor, returning to the fold after an enforced absence, was called into action on several occasions before the home side scored when the Aylesbury defence failed to clear at a corner and the ball rolled over the goal line.
This acted as a catalyst to the side however as they began to create opportunities. Gemma Butterfield had a long range effort saved before Hannah Franklin had the ball taken off her toe as she was about to shoot.
Laura Gardner then hooked an effort just wide and Chinnor hit the post before Nicola Hunt levelled on twenty minutes. Cutting inside the blonde striker made no mistake from inside the six yard box.
As the first thirty minute period drew to a close Lucy Ilic and Hannah Franklin both created chances only to be thwarted at the death.
Both sides made changes for the second sector but it was the Ducks who dominated the half hour. Sakura Fachiri shot wide before Kerry Rickard made a successful return to the green and white. Firstly the robust midfielder had a long range effort saved and then she threaded a perfectly weighted ball through to Hannah Franklin who rounded the keeper and slid the ball home. This maintained the newcomer?s record of scoring in all the pre-season games.
Stand in keeper Pam Marriott performed well at the other end but Chinnor never really looked very threatening.
The Ducks had numerous chances to increase their advantage in the final third with Hunt and Franklin both going close.
The third Aylesbury goal arrived on sixty five minutes and it was worth the wait. Right back Beth Harris set off on a mazy run, took on three Chinnor players and sent in the perfect cross which Nicola Hunt fired home with ease.
The last twenty minutes was almost one way traffic as Hunt, Gardner, Ilic and Butterfield could all have increased the United lead.
Overall this was a good victory but the real test comes next week when the Ladies start their league campaign with a home game with Slough Reserves on Sunday.
